Public Mausoleums Rules and Regulations

Rosedale Rosehill Cemetery has guidelines in place to help maintain a respectful and well-kept environment for all visitors. Rules vary depending on where your loved one is interred, so we encourage you to review these regulations for our Public Mausoleum areas.

The Cemetery reserves the right to initiate enforcement of its rules and regulations at any time and to remove any adornment that is unsafe, inappropriate or offensive.

Kids & Teenagers

All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian.

Balloons

Balloons are not prohibited at the cemetery for any section, including all Mausoleum spaces.

Crypt/Niche Object Placement Rules

Our Mausoleum areas are specialized areas where any adronment object must be place by the Cemetery team, only.

  • Application: an object approval application, with the required fee, must be submitted for approval by our Cemetery Team for any object placed on a crypt front.

    The application must indicate, in detail, the size and material for each object.

    The Cemetery reserves the right to reject any application for any reason.

  • Approved Placement: Any approved object for a crypt front must be installed by our Rosedale/Rosehill teams and will be positioned on the crypt front with the teams best discretion.

  • Unapproved Placement: No objects of any kind are permitted on the ground or ledge in front of crypts/niches.

  • Item Ownership: Any approved object on a crypt front is the property of the crypt owner. The Cemetery does not take responsibility for the displayed objects once the item has been placed. Items will not be replaced by the Cemetery if missing or damaged.

Mausoleum Maintenance

A general cleanup takes place weekly at Rosedale and Rosehill Cemeteries.

What to expect:

  • Trash from receptacles, dead flowers and faded artificial flowers from vases will be removed.

  • Holiday flowers will be removed after each holiday.

  • Any unapproved objects will be removed from crypt fronts at the expense of the crypt owner.

    The placing of any unapproved items on or in front of any crypt may result in the removal of any approved items from the crypt front and the assessment of a removal and cleaning fee.

Prohibited Actions

The following actions are prohibited in all Mausoleum areas:

  • Burning of any materials

  • Entering into the fountain, ball playing, picnicking, bicycle riding, loud music, etc.

  • The consumption of any food or beverage.

Accepted Caskets

Only standard caskets with dome-shaped tops are permitted in Public Mausoleums.

Elmlawn Mausoleum

Anyone visiting the Elmlawn Mausoleum should also adhere to the rules and regulations stated above.

Chapel of Roses Additional Rules & Regulations

The following guidelines apply in addition to the rules stated above.

  • Chapel Hours: The chapel will be open for visitation daily from 8:30am - 6pm, including Sundays from  9am to 5pm.

  • Flowers and Cards: There are designated areas for artificial flowers and cards.
    Fresh flowers are not permitted in the building.

    The Cemetery reserves the right to immediately dispose of these items at its discretion.

  • Burial Requirement: All bodies to be entombed in Chapel of Roses must be embalmed.
